Product Details

Tiger 1 - This example shows a Tiger of 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich as it pulls away from the area of The Battle of Kursk. This was the biggest tank Vs tank battle in history. A dreadful battle of attrition where Russian and German tanks became at times facing and engaging each other at point blank range!! The Germans did not achieve the surprise they wanted as the Russians had warning which enabled them to prepare well built defences against which the Germans threw themseles. Both sides claimed victory but in reality neither side had a clear victory, losses were proportionally equal for both armoured forces. This tank shows the tactical formation double bar marking for Das Reich designed to baffle the enemy from recognising units as a temporary security measure before the battle.
