A somewhat controversial picture, as Michael Wittmann advances towards the town in what became famous as 'Wittmann's single handed destruction of The British tanks'. The controversy for Wittmann buffs surrounds the turret number of the tank he used that morning in his initial action. There are many reports that, as hios own vehicle was broken down he simply leapt into Turret number 222 and sallied forth spreading death and destruction as he advanced through a surprised British column. However, there's some pretty compelling reports and evidence that in fact he jumped into turret number 231 as shown in my picture with a burning Cromwell he'd just destroyed. Believe what you choose but hopefully you simply like my sketch?
