Product Details

One country that purchased the M48 was Israel for its defence force. The tanks were bought from the German Bundeswehr in the early 60s. The deal rumbled some feathers and, when further deals were cancelled, subsequent purchases were made direct from the US.

The Israelis named their new tank 'Magach' the Hebrew word for 'battering ram'. Further developments found the M48 base designated as Magach 1,2,3,4 and 5 before the M60 took over the title and further development.

My picture shows a Magach returning from action during the Yom Kippur war. I do try to capture vehicles from around the world regardless from which country they originate and, Israel tank crews gathered much experience from action which they shared to Armoured doctrine around the war. I saw this in photo form and thought it captured the tank brilliantly, I just hope I've done it justice.
