071 - A4 Mounted/Framed print - M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS)
During WW2 both the German 'Nebelwerfer' and the Russian 'Stalin's organ' heralded Multiple launch rocket systems and the devastating effect they could have over area targets both to enemy morale and structural damage, Russia moved into the Cold War developing the BM21.
Time has moved on and during the Cold war the US decided to counter the Soviet dominance in rocket artillery and developed this system based on the Bradley IFV chassis the first service entry being in 1983 - the system has since been upgraded to fire guided missiles ensuring accuracy rather than simply smothering the target area.
The UK among many other NATO members purchased and continue to use the system with plans to expand the fleet.
