A mug for those of us who served and participated in vehicle maintenance.
The oils we used pretty much all came in 5 Gallon/22 Litre drums marked as I have this one. Some of the markings are not accurate due to a lack of manufacturing info these days.
This mug depicts OMD (Oil Mineral Detergent) 75. The engine oil pretty universally used for Military engines. Combined with long periods of non use, this oil probably accounted for more Chieftain Tank breakdowns as, without the engine running, the detergent would literally eat away at the rubber hoses making up prt of the lubrication system. The first time we drove the tank on an operation the pressure build up would split the deteriorated rubber causing failure. It was later replaced by OMD 80 also depicted on a mug.
