SD011 The 1930 Bentley Speed Six 'Blue Train'. Mounted/Framed A4 Print
The Bentley 6½ Litre Speed Six 'Blue Train'.
Once in your life you identify 'your dream car'. I was always a lover of the pre war 'Bentley boys' and the Bentley 4½ Litre supercharged 'Blower Bentleys' along with the high-performance Bentley Speed Six which were in production from 1926 to 1930. The Speed Six, introduced in 1928, became the most successful racing Bentley. Two Bentley Speed Six Sportsman Coupés were built in 1930 by Gurney Nutting and became known as the Blue Train Bentleys
in 1930 after their owner Woolf Barnato raced the 'Blue Train' (which gained international fame as the preferred train of wealthy and famous passengers between Calais and the French Riviera during the interwar period). But, in fact the Coupé was delivered after the race Barnato having raced against the Blue Train in a Speed Six with H. J. Mulliner saloon coachwork. That not withstanding I just adore the sleek lines and power housed beneath that fortress sized bonnet. I hope you feel my sketch has done justice to this awesome machine.
